I've been a crafter since I was 7 years old, long before it was trendy. I took the handmade pledge many years ago when I decided that I would make gifts to give instead of buying them. Yes, back then I was probably considered a craft geek and not everyone was thrilled to get a handmade gift. I put so much thought, effort and time into those handmade items!
I am thrilled to see the excitement and energy in the craft world today. It's finally happened! I see so many amazing things being created out there! You all inspire me.
Along with being a geeky crafter I also developed a love for the old, the worn and the tattered from days gone by. Maybe it comes from listening to the adults talk about the "olden" days. I loved listening to all of their stories about a time I would never know and my love of vintage was born.
I am so grateful to all of the people out there who are preserving history, in one way or another. Whether it's restoring an old car or a piece of furniture, each item has a history all it's own and vintage images are no exception.
The sheer delight I feel as I come across a "new" vintage image is my high. I am so thankful that others love and enjoy them as much as I do and that is why I started this blog - to bring new life to these charming and beautiful images. They will live on in the items that are created with them because everything old is new again.
I truly believe that these vintage images should be preserved and shared with the world so others may delight in them - whether it's just to print them out, frame them and hang on a wall - or to make something fabulous with them to give or to sell. In this fast paced, high tech world that we live in I think it's so amazing to be able to look at these images that were created without the use of a computer or imaging software, but by hand, the true artistry of these images is amazing. Looking at these images also takes us back in time, to a simpler more innocent time.
I welcome and encourage you to send me photos of what you create with the images posted in this blog. I would be honored to post them here and give you a shout out for your creation. And please let me know what kind of images you are looking for and I will do my best to find them for you.
I hope you enjoy the images I bring to you, sometimes with a little history lesson too!
